First Day Of Class Information

• I hope to be able to let in everyone left on the waiting list. The quiz on the first day will due Wednesday Sept 9. I will use this as way of taking attendance. I you are registered for the class, hand in your answers via Canvas. If you are not registered, you can e-mail the answers to boley@umn.edu.
• Zoom link for lecture: https://umn.zoom.us/j/96297142333?pwd=dldEYi9nYlRSQVI2b05iNmRyd0hodz09". You must be an authenticated UMN user to join, but it should not be necessary to be registered in this class.
• There will be an informal quiz. Quizzes receive full credit if a good faith effort is made to answer them and they are submitted on time. You do not need to complete the answers correctly, but you must make at least an attempt to provide answers.
• During the class, you will be asked to leave Zoom and join a break-out session where you are asked to
  • self-organize into small groups;
  • introduce yourselves to each other;
  • discuss the quiz among yourselves in small groups;
  • socialize as best you can in this digital setting.
  For this to work, you must be on a laptop (not smart phone or tablet), and quiz Zoom completely.
• Links for informal breakout sessions. Look at the last digit of your student ID number and choose the appropriate room. Once you connect to the room, move yourself to a far corner of the room and form small groups to discuss the quiz and socialize. As you approach other participants you will be in speaking range and can converse with other participants.
